To really appreciate the size, depth, and placement of the lungs, you should click on the link below. You will first see the exterior picture with cross sections mapped over the picture. As a nurse, assessing the exterior, one thing to notice/assess:

young adult male, larger muscle build

Keep this in mind as you click through the internal pictures and imagine how the internal views might differ in an older patient will less muscle tone.
